Yet Another Polymer Clay Adventure

This time the polymer madness started because I had an idea for some book charms... and then I kept going. Some of these things I will put on my Etsy shop. I don't think the last two pictures are going to make it on there. One had copyrighted characters and the other picture has some not-so-original ideas.

This dragon matches the Maroon and Gold one from the last polymer adventures. I wanted to use up the glass stones that I have. It just happened that they're going on a Harry Potter color theme. I think I'll have to continue with it. ;)

Hungry like a Zombie?

I had these little bowls from the last time and didn't know what I was going to do with them then. I wanted to make something kind of gross and weird. I think this fits the bill.

The Bibliophile's Charm

 I'm a self-proclaimed bibliophile and I like it when I find another. I really like to talk about books that I'm reading or interested in. It's fun to talk to other writers, as well. I figured making a charm to declare so would be perfect.

Book Genre Charms

These are the charms that got me going on this latest polymer endeavor. I drew up some little images that I thought would convey certain genres and stories. I'm open to other ideas.

These are the charms that I'm not going to put on Etsy... well, Jack and Sally for sure. I don't like the idea of making a profit on copyrighted characters. It doesn't seem right to me. But I like to make them as gifts for friends/family. The ice cream and candycane bunch just didn't seem all that original to put up. I even debated putting them up here on the blog, but I figured what the heck?

Komaneko

I was reading a blog today and found this cute video on it. In Japan there's a popular stop-motion animation series called Komaneko. I decided to watch the first video and I loved it! It was super cute and being in the type of animation I love most, it was love at first sight! Enjoy!



I recommend searching "komaneko" on YouTube. There are a few other videos and they're just to die for!

Anime Banzai

While looking around on the internet for local anime conventions in September, I stumbled across Anime Banzai. I looked around it's website and gleefully found out that it was going to happen on October 16th-18th. I was so excited. I would be able to wear my costume to somewhere besides Halloween! And there was also a Cosplay Contest and I thought I could give it a try.

October approached and I had to rush to get my cosplay done. The night before we went I stayed up to finish painting a lot of the shield and the gold on the scabbard. I ended up staying up until 1:00 a.m., I believe. This caused sleeping in a little longer than we (Nett, Taylor, Danny, and I) wanted to on the next day.

The hotel the convention was at was about an hour away and I still needed to get dressed. I also had to be at the convention between 11:00 a.m. to Noon to sign up for the contest. I don't remember the time we left the house but I still needed to get some spirit gum to attach the prosthetic ears to my ears and duct tape for the scabbard and shield. So we ran into a Halloween store and a shopping store. We rushed for the stuff and were back on our way.

We got to the convention around 11:45 a.m. and went straight to the registration line. Frustratingly, the line took us 45 mins. to get through. That meant we missed the contest sign-ups by a half hour. It was disappointing but I was having a lot of fun so I didn't mind much.

As we walked around the convention, people were sneaking pictures of my costume. Some people even told me that I was one of the best Links there or the 'cute Link.' Two people asked for pictures that I remember and lots of people asked for hugs. Taylor and I went into the Artist Alley and Dealer's Room. It was cool to see all of the anime wares. I got a poster and a keychain. Taylor got a lot more than I did. xD

Later on in the day, we tried to get a glimpse at the Cosplay Contest. We had to leave earlier to help finish move some of Nett's friends from their place. We hurried back to watch the show but we must have missed it. Taylor and I ended up watching 10 mins. of a badly done anime performance. I don't remember the name of the cosplay group, but they tried to reenact an anime in a musical form. Too bad most of them couldn't sing. xP

We walked around for about a half hour after that. That's when I got a lot of the pictures I have of people. And also that was when the crazier people started to show up. That was our cue to leave. It was fun while it lasted. =)

April Fool's Day

So, I've never really done anything for April Fool's Day before. However, I was inspired by something that I saw on DeviantART. This is the result.


Yes, those are my roommate's eggs. I was lucky enough to have some of the eggs cracked. It allowed me to draw some screaming eggs. xD I can't wait to see her face when she opens it. >w<

Oh, I turned in my portfolio/application for my major today. I'll know in two-four weeks if I've made it. I'll let you all know. ^^

Costume Sneak Peak

Alrighty everyone. You are all getting a sneak peak at my costume. Anyone care to guess what I'm making? Nett already knows, so she can't guess. What I have done is the hat seen above, tunic, and chainmail done in gold fabric. What I have left to do is: sword, shield, belts, pouches, boots, armguard, armwraps, styling a wig, long-sleeve turtleneck, pants, and purchasing blue contacts and a blonde wig. As you can see, I have a lot of work cut out for me. That's why I started making it last weekend. And I'm also doing a specific version of the character. Try and guess that as well. Good luck. =)

Another Amigurumi

When I was at Jenni and Corey's house for General Conference on Sunday, I was browsing around at different amigurumi that people have made. I found a doll pattern here. But instead of making a doll I decided to make a cat. I did change the shape of the body since I didn't like the egg shape the pattern called for.

This is the biggest amigurumi that I've made ever. He's 25" from ear tip to toe. It also gave me a chance to use the green cat safety eyes that I bought recently. I really liked making this one. I just didn't like making the stripes with the yarn I chose. I had leftover from the monkey and hippo that I made for Jared. It's really hard to count stitches with. So I improvised some stitch-marks with a safety pin and a sewing pin. The black was a lot easier to count stitches by I used a safety pin as a marker still.

I started him on Sunday and finished him in the early hours of this morning. I didn't know that the pattern was designed to make such a big guy. However, I am happy with what came out. ^^

Autumn Amigurumi Cat

I made this amigurumi to go with a thread that I'm on a lot on Gaia Online. We decided to have an amigurumi along and this time I was able to participate. The along is Autumn themed and that can encompasses Halloween; so don't be surprised if I make something with Halloween colors too. I was very low on the maroon yarn that I decided to use. Jenni took me to a couple of stores yesterday in search for this yarn. Yet, it remained elusive. As you can see I ran out near the end and had to add a black tip to one ear. It's growing on me though. The sweater is able to come off of the cat. I made the collar and ends of the sleeves ribbed to give it more texture.

A Bored, Crafty Day

So... I was bored out of my brain today. I thought about going to the bookstore to buy Brisingr today, but I figured that they would jack the price up. I'll have to wait until I can go to Wal*Mart or a different bookstore. I also thought of doing homework, but then I realized I really don't have any. The only homework I have is due Tuesday and it's really easy.

Instead I was bit by the Halloween bug. I made this so we could start decorating the apartment with Halloween stuff. This took me quite a few hours to make. I swear with all these crafts I make, I'm going to get tendonitus. My little pinky's big knuckel started hurting. Oh well. But I do love to make things.

It be that time o' year again! Th' day when all o' th' Pirates come out ter play 'n talk away! Aye! It be "Talk Like a Pirate" day once again! 'N this year ter celebrate th' merriment, me roommate took pictures o' me. I put them all into this .gif. 'N aye, I wore that outfit ter school today. 'N just so ye all know, it was so hard for me not to laugh while doin' this. I'm sure ye can see why. xD

Something I Used to Love: Oh yeah, baby. Do you remember this show? I used to LOVE watching this show. It was called Legends of the Hidden Temple. It was on Nickelodeon for only a couple years, but it was sure fun to watch. Lately I've been having this urge to watch it, but I can't. =(


My Favorite Animal: Alright. I hope you all are happy with this photo that I found. I love cats, but I really like this breed of cat. I'm not even sure what breed of cat this is. All I know is that this breed has the letter 'b' within it. I saw it in a pet shop long ago and I've loved it since then. I had to type in something like "blue eyes cat" to get this picture.

A Thank You Present

Meet the newest member to the amigurumi family. A Fourth of July bear. I wanted to make this one for Granni and Granddad. They're the ones who will be picking me up tomorrow and taking me down to Utah until I go see Amber, Greg, and Jared in Wisconsin. =D I attached the arms and legs by making felt stars and then sewing them on with a fancy stitch. Then I took more embroidery thread to sew the actual limbs on. You think they'll like it?

Amigurumi Hippo

I decided to make something else for my nephew. I continued the jungle theme and made a hippo. I really like him. He turned out a lot better than I thought he would. He took about a day to make. I really shouldn't make anything else for my nephew. I might run out of packing room in my suitcase if I keep going. And trust me; I can keep going. xD

Monkey, Blanket, and Key Chains

I gave up on crocheting a blanket for my little nephew; so I decided to crochet him a monkey instead. I also made a microfiber blanket and tied the ends in knots. Don't they go well together? I figured that since the baby room is jungle themed that I would continue it.

The monkey is made out of soft yarn made especially for babies. These were the two colors that I intended on making the blanket out of. I think it turned out really cute even though I started doing a dc instead of a sc at first (which makes it have holes in it). I also love the blanket. I found it Wal*Mart one day and thought that it was the cutest design.

On a side note I also made some felt key chains. As you can see they're a fire flower and star from Mario and a skull that I used on my amigurumi cat. They're are quite big for key chains (the fire flower being about 4" tall) but I think they turned out good. ^^

Indy and a Rainy Day

I finally saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I actually just finished watching it about 20 minutes ago. My initial reaction is that I like it, but not as much as the others. There are differences that definitely makes this one of the series more updated. The special effects are done well (the bunch of them that there are) and the theme especially makes it very different. I wasn't sure at first why the whole alien/inter-dimensional theme, but then I got thinking about it. What else could they do with the religious artifacts? They seem to hit the major ones. Then again Temple of Doom doesn't deal with religious artifacts. Overall, I say this is a good movie.

So living in Rexburg you never know how the weather's going to be. Krystal and I were hoping for a sunny Memorial Day. Well, we got wet. However, that was okay with me. We decided to go puddle jumping in the huge puddles that were forming. The round-about near us was completely flooded. We thought about seeing if the local park was as well, but it was getting close to when we had to leave to see Indy 4. So we stayed on the crosswalks and Krystal's complex's parking lot.
