As part of the Christmas fun yesterday Dad wanted to take all of us to go see the new Sherlock Holmes movie. Having never read any of the books and only seeing a Disney rendition, The Great Mouse Detective, I went without any expectations. I'm glad I did. Dad enjoyed it but wasn't sure about some of the things because he has read books and seen old movies before.
I enjoyed the movie. Yes, there were parts (tiny parts) that may have seemed a little out the 1800's era but I think they were done within the era's boundaries. There was one part where Holmes picked up a device that looked a lot like a tuning fork. It turned out that it could shock things. It only showed up on the screen for a few minutes and wasn't a big part of the plot. The way that it was designed and was introduced seemed like it was totally plausible to me. That goes with anything that seemed a little out of the ordinary.
The movie was full of action, jokes, and second guesses. I didn't predict anything that was about to happen. Maybe if I was as smart as Holmes then I could have. But that's the beauty of Holmes. I also thought that the actors did a good job. They all seemed to be born to play these roles. I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel; and I say that because they left it wide open for another. Go see it! You'll have fun. ^^

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Corey and I have wanted to see it since we started seeing previews for it over a year ago. I'm sure I'll like it.
