Walking into JoAnn's yesterday I only had the intention of getting three things. Interfacing, elastic, and ribbon. I walked out with more than that.
From the picture you can tell that mother had this great idea of making an apron. Well, me making an apron for her. There was this free brochure showing you how to measure someone to make a pattern for the apron. Then it gave you the dimensions for the other pieces.
I thought it was innocent just playing along and the next thing I knew Mom picked out some fabric and some 'bling' to match. She told me that she wanted an apron because she was sick of getting grease stains on her clothes while cooking. I took this as a belated Mother's Day present since I wasn't home when it happened.
Mom likes her apron. It's not the most perfect thing in the world but at least she can still use it. I followed everything it said and it still came out a little long in the top. I also took it upon myself to adding lining since one layer of fabric wouldn't be sturdy or think enough for protection. All-in-all a pretty easy project. Probably about 2-3 hrs. of actual work on it.

Just kidding--- you did a great job Meg!
It looks cool! My friend makes aprons too. They're completely in right now.
This is awesome! You can tell your Mom loves it too. The best compliment ever!
