Yesterday I saw Coraline with Glenn and Taylor. They both enjoyed it as did I. And so there is no confusion among my family, this movie wasn't done by Tim Burton. This movie was directed by Henry Selick, who directed The Nightmare Before Christmas. Tim Burton came up with the idea and produced that, not directed.
I have to confess that the only reason that I wanted to see this movie was because it is done in stop-motion animation. This is the kind of animation that I want to focus on. The animation was done very well. You can tell that there are so many advances from The Nightmare Before Christmas and The Corpse Bride. I enjoyed the visual aspects of it a lot.
The story was also fun. It's in a way and Alice in Wonderland story. Things seem okay at first, but as time goes on Coraline realizes that things aren't. She eventually has to save herself, her parents, and others (I won't say who because that would blow some of the story.). It can be enjoyed by all members of the family... well, you might want to cover the eyes of the younger ones when there's a woman nearly naked except for covering the important parts. Luckily, that isn't on the screen for long. I expected more songs to be in it because of the one that was shown in previews. That's the only one plus some instrumental. I enjoyed it without the musical numbers though; it wouldn't make sense if there were. I really enjoyed this movie; I recommend it. ^^
